Records go back as far as 1958 for the Pioneer Caravan Park which has been built in the surrounds of the former Botanical Gardens. Over the years the park has been a popular tourist attraction for holiday makers and gold prospectors.

The Loddon Shire has now received a State Government grant of around $600,000 for improvements to the facility and the WDA has also reserved a further amount of $75,000 from the community planning budget for additional works.

Once the Shire has committted its funds to the park, the WDA will make a decision as to how their allocated funds can be used.

The overall objective of course is to make the park more attractive and to increase the number of visitors and campers to the town.
